The Church of Sardis
Revelation 3:1: “And unto the angel”
[Messenger/leader]
“of
the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the
seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars;” [See Revelation 1:16 and
Revelation 5:6]
“I know thy
works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.”
Revelation 3:2: “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which
remain," [Those in the church of Sardis] "that are ready to die: for I have not found thy"
[The messenger/leader of the church] "works
perfect before God.”
Revelation 3:3: “Remember therefore how thou"
[The messenger/leader of the church] "hast
received and heard, and hold fast, and repent.” [Christ warned
the leader of the church of Sardis to repent and perform the
duties of a good watchman, see 1 Corinthians 9:16-19] “If therefore
thou” [The leader of the church] “shalt not watch,”
[Repent and willingly do the work of a watchman/messenger/leader: preach
and live the
gospel] “I will
come on thee as a thief,” [The leader of the church of
Sardis will be raised up before the second coming of Christ,
without the knowledge of the truth of Christ] “and thou shalt not know
what hour I will come upon thee.” The leader of the church
of Sardis shall not be of The Elect. He shall lose his
understanding and follow the Beast, when he is raised up in the
end, see 1 Thessalonians 5:1-4.
Revelation 3:4: “Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have
not defiled their garments;” [Faithful servants of Christ/Servants of God]
“and
they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” See
Revelation 14:1.
Revelation 3:5: “He" [That is of
the 144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High] "that overcometh, the same shall be clothed
in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the
book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father,"
[See Matthew 10:32] "and
before his angels.”
Revelation 3:6: “He" [That is of the
144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High] "that hath an ear," [Understanding] "let him"
[The man with understanding] "hear
what the Spirit" [Christ] "saith unto the churches.”
Although the above statements were made to the angel/leader of
the church of Sardis, they are warnings to the seven churches in
Asia. Likewise, the promises are for the 1444,000/Servants of
God/Saints of the Most High.
The Church of Philadelphia
Revelation 3:7: “And to the angel”
[Messenger/leader]
“of the
church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he” [Christ,
see
Acts 3:14]
“that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key
of David,” [Christ shall sit on the throne of David in the
kingdom of heaven, see Luke 1:31-33]
“he that openeth, and no man
shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;”
Revelation 3:8:
“I know
thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no
man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept
my word, and hast not denied my name.” The door [Entrance into
the kingdom of heaven] was open to the leader of the church of
Philadelphia because he kept Christ’s word and did not deny his
name.
Revelation 3:9: “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of
Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold,
I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to
know that I have loved thee.”
Revelation 3:10: “Because thou hast kept
the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of
temptation,” [The 144,000 will not be tempted by the
beast and the false prophet, see John 6:38-40]
“which shall come
upon all the world,” [“The world” those that do not accept
Christ, his teachings and his followers, see John 15:18-21]
“to try them
that dwell upon the earth.”
Revelation 3:11: “Behold, I"
[Christ] "come quickly:”
[Christ second coming] “hold that fast which thou hast,”
[The book of Revelation, and faith]
“that no man take thy crown.”
Revelation 3:12: “Him" [That is of the
144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High] "that overcometh
will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no
more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the
name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh
down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new
name.”
Revelation 3:13:
“He" [That is of the 144,000/Servants of
God/Saints of the Most High] "that hath an ear, let him hear"
[Understand] "what the Spirit" [Christ] "saith unto the
churches.”
Although the above statements were made to the angel/leader of
the church of Philadelphia, they are warnings to the seven
churches in Asia. Likewise, the promises are for the
144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High.
The Church of Laodiceans
Revelation 3:14: “And unto the angel”
[Messenger/leader]
“of
the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen,
the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of
God;” Christ, see Colossians 1:14-19.
Revelation 3:15: “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold
nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.”
Revelation 3:16: “So then
because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue
thee out of my mouth.”
Revelation 3:17: “Because thou sayest, I am
rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and
knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and
blind, and naked:”
The leader of the church of Laodicean was not zealous to observe
the teachings of Christ, he trusted in earthly riches and was
blinded, see James 2:14-26.
Revelation 3:18: “I counsel” [The
leader of the church of Laodicean] “thee to buy of me” [Christ,
see Isaiah 55:1-3] “gold tried in the
fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment,” [See
Revelation 19:7-9] “that thou” [The
leader of the church of Laodicean] “mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not
appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest
see.”
Revelation 3:19: “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be
zealous therefore, and repent.”
Christ is telling the leader of the church of Laodicean to
repent by trusting in him, see Proverbs 3:13-18.
Revelation 3:20: “Behold, I”
[Christ] “stand at the door, and knock:” [See,
Proverbs 8:4, Song Of Solomon 5:2 and
Isaiah 30:21] “if any man hear my
voice,” [In the Church of Laodicean] “and open the door,”
[Follow the voice/teachings] “I" [Christ] "will come in to him,"
[Any man in the Church of Laodicean that hears Christ] "and will
sup with him, and he with me.” Christ will teach the
willing man in the
church, see
1 Corinthians 2:12-14 and
1 John 2:27.
Revelation 3:21: “To him"
[That is of the 144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most
High] "that overcometh”
[The trials and tribulations by following the teachings of
Christ] “will I"
[Christ] "grant to sit with me"
[Christ] "in my throne,”
[See Revelation 14:1 and Revelation
20:4] “even as I also overcame,”
[Followed
will of God, see Philippians 2:5-11]
“and am set down with my Father
in his throne.”
Revelation 3:22: “He" [That is of the
144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High] "that hath an ear, let him" [That
is of the 144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High] "hear" [Understand] "what the Spirit"
[Christ] "saith unto the churches.”
Although the above statements were made to the
angel/leader of the church of Laodicean, they are warnings to
the seven churches in Asia. Likewise, the promises are for the
144,000/Servants of God/Saints of the Most High.
